What an absolutely stunning day this was. I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Dave & Charlene earlier this year. Not only were they the loveliest, warmest and fun couple to work with, but they had a family to match and to cap it all off, I was photographing this wedding at the amazing Bolton School which is a beautiful wedding venue where I love to shoot and where I'm always made to feel welcome by all of the staff at Bolton School Weddings & Event
This lovely spring wedding started out for me arriving at Charlene's brothers where her and her bridesmaids were completing hair and make-up. From there it was on to complete the bridal preparations at Charlene's fathers house. The bride was dressed in the most beautiful Sottero dress and wedding shoes by Badgley Mischka.
I made my way to Bolton School to photograph the groom and groomsmen and to await the arrival of the bride. Following a beautiful service and the family formals it was time for the newleyweds to take a walk around the grounds of Bolton school, we were fortunate to have lovely weather for some outdoor shots in the quad but I truly love shooting bride and groom portraits on the interior of thhis venue, as much as the exterior.
Before the wedding breakfast it was time for some heartfelt speeches by the father of the bride and the groom, it was interesting to see the wonderful Arts Centre Main Hall laid out a little differently from most weddings I have shot at the venue, the 'top' table was actually in the middle of the room so the bride and groom, and their immediate family were completely surrounded by all of their guests.
While the Main Hall was being turned around for the wedding reception, we grabbed a few more moments to capture some lovely bride and groom portraits outside, where it was close to sunset by this time and up in one of my new favourite locations within the venue, the library.
As the wedding reception commenced, it was clear that this group were well up for a party, the DJ knew exactly how to get this party going but there was just a few final formalities that had to be addressed; the first dance. I'm sure David had been practicing his moves as he swirled Charlotte around the dancefloor. This was followed by a beautiful bride and father dance.
The evening was then underway with some cracking shapes being thrown on the dancefloor.
I had such a wonderful time and would like to wish Dave and Charlotte a long and happy marriage.
