What an incredible day this was from start to finish. Mike and Jodie were married on Sunday 28th May and I had the pleasure of providing this Astley Bank wedding photography.
My day started at Jodie's parents house which is handily around 100 yards from my own front door, happy days. Jodie and her bridesmaids were all getting ready; the excitement was clear and the bubbly had already been started. After photographing initial preparations and details shots it was off up to the venue, The Astley Bank Hotel to dress and for final preparations. The Astley Bank Hotel is a fantastic wedding venue in Darwen, Blackburn set in stunning grounds, there is also a great team up there who make sure everything runs smoothly. I have shot a number of weddings with this North West wedding venue as the location for the wedding breakfast and reception but never for the actual service so I was looking forward to that.
Mike arrived with his entourage and it was great to see some familiar faces; Iain & Fiona whose wedding I have previously shot as well as Neil & Sarah whom I have shot for baby and family portraits.
The service went beautifully, I just loved the look on Jodie's fathers face when we was giving her away. The weather was friendly to us, not as hot as it had been a couple of days before so it was outside for some family shots and the bride and groom portraits then a few few quick indoor portraits against that lovely stained glass window.
The wedding breakfast was proceeded with some fantastic, emotional speeches by the father of the bride and the groom, then the best man did himself proud with some cracking stories. As the room was being turned around there was time for lots of natural shots, I even managed to photo bomb some of the guests taking a selfie......twice :)
I always love a wedding with a live band so was excited to see The Kickstarts setting up, I knew with their music and this fun loving group we were in for a fun reception; there was dad dancing going on, guests pulling their dancing faces and the groom even got up for a little twerk....such a laugh, I loved being in and amongst it all on the dancefloor.
Thank you Mike & Jodie for having me along for the ride. I hope you have a long and happy marriage, here is a small selection of my favourite images from the day.
